2.5 Current Challenges for New Product Development and Production

Product development and production are critical for companies' success and profitability. Fruitful product development strategies allow for managing an evolving market and keeping a product- and service-mix that deliver value to customers. However, several challenges related to product development and production remain. Aspects such as globalisation, digitalisation, increased environmental and social awareness, limited resource supply, rapid technological changes, or increased demands for higher returns are examples of such challenges. Therefore, in this track, we call for research on new product development and production challenges, as well as on possible ways to address these issues.
